Start your Lisbon walking tour by joining a local guide in one of the city’s most imposing squares, the Praça do Martim Moniz. This famous landmark honors a nobleman that sacrifices his own life to help the conquering of Lisbon to the moors in 1147 and is an apt starting point for this tour through Lisbon’s musical and culinary heritage, because is now the home a fusion market that celebrates the multiculturalism of the Neighborhood of Mouraria.
To kick this Lisbon evening tour off with even more of a bang, you’ll have the chance to try a sip of Ginjinha, Lisbon’s trademark liqueur, made from sour cherries and sold as medicine since 1840. For this we’ll be in the old district of Mouraria, listening to Fado music in a local tavern. Walk around in one of the oldest areas of Lisbon, take in sweeping views and stop for a break to admire the sunset over this intoxicating city from the viewpoints of the Castle Hills, some of the city’s best-kept secrets.
Next, travel deep into the soul of Lisbon while exploring the Alfama neighborhood. This is the oldest quarter in the city, dating back to the Moorish occupation of Lisbon. Explore Alfama’s small squares, rustic buildings and dark alleyways as you wander along the winding, cobblestone streets. Stop to breathe in the exciting atmosphere as the local taverns and music venues come to life for another evening of melodic tunes and gastronomic delights.
Stop to reflect on the beauty of the River Tagus then continue on to finish this Lisbon walking tour in an old Palace that serves up daily doses of delicious food and Fado music to enthusiastic audiences.
Indulge in a dinner of traditional Portuguese food and wine while appreciating a performance of Fado from one of the most famous houses, a quintessential Lisbon experience that you won’t get on other Lisbon tours! What a fitting finale to this indulgent Lisbon walking tour extravaganza.

Our guide Tiago was wonderful. The tour was totally misrepresented. It was to a good tour we ate a meal in one restaurant where the food was not good. That is a not a foid tour. The Fado singing was great . Tiago had a lot to share but your description and what it is are two different things. Don’t advertise it as a foid tour beacusrcits not . It’s more of a walking tour trolley with a dinner and Fado . Not Tiago fault he was the messanget

Pedro was an amazing and intelligent guide. I had him on two tours and was very impressed by his patience and sensitivity.
Ms. Emily C. from USA travelled on 26 Jan 2018:
Enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Had the opportunity to hear several different fado singers during the performance, which was a good first experience with the genre.
Ms. Kathryn L. from USA travelled on 29 Dec 2017:
Tour guide was awesome!

We had a very nice evening! There was a bit of a hiccup at the beginning where a couple had booked through a 3rd party but that info hadn’t been transferred to Urban Adventures, so we were delayed by about 15 minutes while our guide phoned ahead to make sure the extras could be accommodated. Our guide did do a fantastic job and kept his cool under the pressure of trying to squeeze extra people in. He even made sure we were at the sunset viewpoint in time for sunset–nice hustle! We were a bit frustrated at the size of the group as Urban Adventures likes to tout they have no groups larger than 12–without that extra couple there was a group of 13 to begin with, and then when the extra pair was accommodated we were 15. Particularly the stop for the local liquor was very crowded and I’m not sure everyone even fit inside the shop. Overall though we were happy we did the tour and would book through Urban Adventures again.

I am a 56 year old dad and did the Lisbon Fado/Tapas tour with 3 kids (21-18 years of age). Our guide (who was excellent and very entertaining) said they were the youngest participants he has ever had. They loved the tour and ranked it as one of the best things we did on our trip (right behind kayaking in Lagos, and better than Sintra!). I recommend doing it early in your stay in Lisbon. We did it the day we arrived. It lets you see the city in a whole different way during the rest of your stay once you get the inside scoop on the history and current culture. Highly recommend

Joana is incredible. Knowledgeable, fun, and energetic!!
Mrs. Joan M. from Australia travelled on 15 May 2017:
John and I thoroughly enjoyed the Fado and Tapas Urban Adventure. Our guide Pedro’s knowledge of and enthusiasm for his city, and fado, was excellent and contributed greatly to our experience. We appreciated the many snippets of information imparted along the way, which enhanced the experience, and certainly enhanced our understanding of fado and Lisbon culture.
Mr. Trevor H. from Australia travelled on 27 Apr 2017:
This was an excellent tour, but it needs to be renamed to something like “Fado History and Dinner Tour” to more accurately reflect the experience. Having done tapas tours in Spain I was expecting to go to bars and have a drink and food, but that didn’t happen. Instead we got an informative tour of the suburbs that are the home of Fado followed by a Fado show and dinner (at about 10pm). Pedro was passionate about his subject and was a great host, but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting.
Ms. Simone A. from USA travelled on 18 Mar 2017:
We loved our Fado and Tapas tour and would recommend it to anyone…. excellent food and wonderful Fado music interludes really made for a wonderful welcome to Lisbon tour to take our first night.
Mr. David N. from USA travelled on 27 Feb 2017:
Such a great way to learn about the city on my first day in Lisbon. A lot of great tips and suggestions for the rest of the trip on top of the amazing history, drink and food!
Mrs. Melinda S. from Canada travelled on 11 Sep 2016:
Pedro our guide was excellant. His enthusiasm for fado made the tour exciting. The meal in the restaurant was delicious. We really enjoyed listening to the singers this tour was more then we expected.
I took 2 of your tours in Istanbul and they were excellant.
Mr. Kristopher H. from Australia travelled on 29 Aug 2016:
The tour was good however I couldnt help but compare it to another tour I did earlier that day, with your company and in Lisbon, which was far superior. Also – this tour was overbooked by one which meant we had 13 and I feel you promote max 12.
Mr. Dennis D. from Australia travelled on 23 May 2016:
More informative and better guided than we imagined it would be.
Ms. Sierra A. from USA travelled on 02 May 2016:
Danny was amazing. She had such a positive attitude, was full of energy and was incredibly knowledgeable. Best of all she sang Fado for us and her voice rivaled those on stage. I would absolutely recommend Danny as a guide.
Mr. Zeev B. from Israel travelled on 29 Apr 2016:
Pedro Osorio was an excellent guide, we were lucky to get a private tour with him and it was wonderful.
Ms. GEMA R. from Spain travelled on 20 Feb 2016:
The Tour was a very nice experience. I was the only customer that night, and Tiago was an excellent (private) guide! He explained to my lots of things, and also could answer all my questions and curiosities. He´s got a full knowledge of Lisbon, and I learnt a lot! I´d definitely recommed the experience, it´s a perfect way to have a complete overview of the city and it´s history and culture. Thanks Tiago!
Mr. Megan F. from USA travelled on 20 Sep 2015:
Very good tour!
Mr. ALAN B. from Malta travelled on 13 Jul 2015:
We had an excellent Lisbon experience thanks to our guide, Juana Mateus. She was really professional, outgoing and entertaining. Would surely engage Urban Adventure services again.
Mrs. Martina C. from Australia travelled on 30 Jun 2015:
We had this tour on June the 24th. Our tour guide, Joana, was simply adorable, very nice and friendly. She guided us into the “unconventional” street of Lisbon and she explaining us a lot of things, in a very captivating way. We had a very good dinner, listening to very great “fadistas”. We also saw a very beautiful sunset from one of the best point of view of Lisbon. We really loved it.
Mr. gerard l. from Australia travelled on 12 May 2015:
congratulations to our guide TIAGO
Ms. Jenni H. from USA travelled on 05 Oct 2014:
Definitely loved this tour! It was a taste of Lisbon that I hadn’t seen on my own. The guide was very knowledgable about all the history and cultural tidbits so relevant to the overall city. The Fado experience was memorable! One of the highlights of my Lisbon experience.
Mr. Mark S. from USA travelled on 08 Sep 2014:
Good tour except some of the walking from meeting point to some of the sites seemed aimless.
Ms. Laura L. from USA travelled on 02 Jul 2014:
Great tour – probably my highlight of this trip, and a perfect way to navigate a very confusing and unfamiliar terrain.
Mrs. Patricia S. from United Kingdom travelled on 04 Nov 2012:
We saw parts of Lisbon we would never have found on our own. Excellent.
Mr. Holly W. from USA travelled on 18 Jul 2012:
My seventeen year old daughter and I took two different Urban Adventures tours on our visit to Lisbon. The first was the Experience Walk with Carlos. The tour was amazing. We visited many districts of the city and experienced the most amazing views. The tastings were all wonderful. Carlos has an excellent knowledge of the history of the city and the pride he showed for his city was apparent. We enjoyed the ferry ride and the seafood and green wine. We were very tired and very happy at the end of the tour.
We also took the Sunset Fado Tour. It was equally amazing. Our guide Augusto was really funny and nice and worked hard to ensure we all had a good time. The beer at sunset was very relaxing, the views were terrific. The Fado was excellent and included red wine and some nice snacks. We especially enjoyed the walk throught the Alfama district to get to the Fado location.
We would definitely do both tours again.
