After a brief introduction, follow your guide to Rossio Square and learn about the Jewish Massacre of Lisbon, the beginning of the persecution by the Holy Inquisition and the meaning of “Conversos”, “Marranos”,“ New Christians” and “Crypto-Jews”.
Continue your Lisbon city walk to Baixa Pombalina, where you will learn about one of the medieval Jewish quarters and the Jewish Cemetery.
Stroll onward to reach the oldest part of the city, the neighborhood of Alfama where you can see the remains of another Jewish quarter and learn about its importance before your tour concludes at the noblest square in the city and you continue exploring on your own.
