See and taste your way through the city on this adventure packed Lisbon tour. With historic highlights, culinary delights, and local interaction, its a unique insight into the heart of this amazing place.
Meet your informative, local guide at historic Restauradores Square where a striking obelisk commemorates the restoration of Portugal’s independence back in 1640, after decades of Spanish rule.
Walk past the beautiful gothic-style Rossio train station, then visit Rossio (Lisbon’s main square) and find out how much the city has changed since the devastating earthquake of 1755.
Continue on this Lisbon city tour to explore the magnetic neighbourhood of Mouraria – a melting pot of cultures from far and wide, and a place you wont see on other Lisbon tours. Portugal’s seafaring past has allowed many different cultural influences to contribute to the richness of modern-day Lisbon. Pass small churches, mosques, and shops selling goods from far-flung places.
Learn about Fado (Lisbon’s unique music) and walk past the birthplace of the legendary Maria Severa, Fado’s first superstar who used to sing in Lisbon’s taverns many years ago. Our Lisbon tour then satisfies your appetite by stopping at a small, hidden bakery where traditional pastries and espresso coffee will provide a tasty pick-me-up and another insight into the local way of life, of which this Lisbon food tour shows you plenty - trust us!
Soak up some Lisbon sightseeing highlights and history while visiting churches and taverns, then stop to taste Portuguese cheese and authentic, locally made marmalade.
Explore the highlights of the cultural and bohemian districts of Chiado, Bairro Alto, and Bica as you travel through Lisbon. We'll stop off at a gorgeous viewpoint in Bairro Alto to take in the Lisbon panorama and have a refreshing drink. Next, take a short trip to the Tagus River, the subject of many Portuguese songs and poems. Board a ferry and journey to the picturesque Cacilhas, where Portuguese green wine and freshly-caught seafood await! Enjoy magnificent views from the South Bank, then return to your drop-off point to end this Lisbon tour. From here your local guide will be happy to give you directions back to your accommodation, or recommendations on other places to check out in this area.

Thanks to Pedro Osorio for the wonderful trip through Lisboa. He was the best guide one can get and we loved at the end of the trip the city, the people and the local food as much as he does. Absolutely perfect!

Our tour guide (andreia) was awesome in that she knew so much about the culture and could answer any question we threw at her! I think that it should ot be advertised as a 4 hr tour, but more like a 5 hr one, so that people know to really block off their whole day for it, as ours went until about 4:30 pm

Margarita took us on a lovely tour taking in all the sights as promised. In particular we loved going off the beaten track to explore the less touristy areas. The cakes, coffee, cheese etc tastings were all very yummy and the prawns and fish cakes at the end of the tour were fresh typical fare. We can highly recommend this tour for seeing more of how the locals live and Margarita was full of knowledge when we wanted to know more about anything we saw. She also sent us off at the end of the tour with suggestions of other places to see. Very good value for money

We loved every part of the tour, it took us into area's we had not seen before and this was our third visit to Lisbon. Margarita was a delight to spend the time with, informative without being too "know it all" as some tour guides can be and she was extremely friendly. Have already recommended the tour to others and obviously Urban Adventures we check out now where ever we visit. Thanks, great job.

“Experience Lisbon Walk” was great! Paulo was very knowledgeable and adjusted to the interests of all of us on the tour. He had great stories and clear explanations of the history and culture of not just Lisbon but also the neighborhoods we were in. His way of interacting with the residents and proprietors, and getting us involved, was particularly enjoyable. The pace was very good and I think we saw far more than what was supposed to be on the tour. Paulo certainly took advantage of the unexpected opportunities – without getting us in trouble.

This tour was simply off-the-scale. It's difficult to express quite how exceptional Paolo was. His intention from the start was to give those following the tour a true Lisboner's view of their city and he didn't seem to leave anything about its history, culture, food, drink, architecture and current affairs out of the picture. A real privilege to have his company on this superb tour and to see a professional at work!
You could easily charge four times the amount for this tour (in London or New York people do, but for poorer equivalents....)
Please pass on my compliments once again.

Pedro was our guide for the Experience Lisbon tour, and he could not have been more helpful, friendly, informative, or generally great. My friend and I were the only two people on the tour, which allowed us to get a much more in-depth understanding of Lisbon's history and the way that people now live in Lisbon. Pedro was more than willing to answer the (many!) questions we had. Our tour wound up taking much longer than the allotted 4 hours, and my friend and I were so appreciative of the fact that Pedro spent more time with us. We loved all of the food tastings, and because we were especially interested in learning more about Portuguese wines, Pedro gave us a very helpful and interesting explanation that he otherwise would not have devoted time to. By the end of the tour, we felt as though we had spent an enjoyable afternoon with a friend rather than a few hours with a city tour guide. Truly excellent experience!

My husband and I did the walking tour of Lisbon and surrounding area. We both found it to be a very worthwhile experience. We were lucky enough to be the only 2 people on the tour for the day so we felt we got a very personalized service from Pedro our guide for the day. The information we learnt along the way was very interesting and it gave a special insight into the history of Portugal and especially Lisbon as it is today. We would both definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to learn more about Portuagal and taste some great food & wine!

It was quitte enjoyable and a great way to explore the city. You notice things that you wouldn't have noticed by yourself so easily. For example: the black and white stones in the street often have the shape of the building in front of them.
For your Urban Adventure you will be in a small group of a maximum of 12 people.
If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.

At Urban Adventures, we firmly believe local travel is one of the best ways we can support responsible tourism. In fact, we believe it so strongly that we’ve made it our entire business! All our tours are run by local experts, not some faceless corporate team located halfway around the world with no sense of the local vibe.
We craft our tours to ensure every traveller has authentic interactions with local people, businesses, transportation, and food and drink. Local travel gives you the opportunity to experience a destination as locals do, and has the potential to impact you in ways you never imagined. In short: local is awesome.
As a responsible travel company, we promise to:

As a traveller, we ask that you keep the following in mind:
- People: Be mindful of the local citizens, and seek understanding through shared experiences. Consider their customs and values while in their homeland, and when in doubt, ask your guide for advice.
- Environment: Be mindful of the local environment, and act with conservation and sustainability in mind. Follow local guidelines, as recommended by your guide, and make proactive decisions on your own.
- Culture: When travelling to other cultures, remember that not everyone's customs are the same as yours at home. Be respectful, and be mindful of openly questioning a customary practice, even if you disagree with it. Try to understand from their perspective. You may learn something! Your guide will be an excellent point of reference here, so check with them if you're unsure.
- Economy: Make every effort to use local businesses and put your tourism dollars in the right (local) pocket. We use local vendors and businesses, and your guide will be able to advise you on the best ways to support the local economy.
